Principal Application Engineers

Job Location : 34 Saint Martin Dr. Suite 13 A9, Marlborough, MA 01752

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise tender bidding processes and provide architectural designs and system solutions for complicated projects;
  • Oversee field service, technical support and product calibration;
  • Oversee mechanical design, including ultrasonic sensor design specifically for Spire’s water meters and BTU meters, enclosure design, packaging design, testing equipment design;
  • Respond to customer’s requests and lead customer complaint investigations while completing root cause analysis;
  • Work closely with Spire’s OEM partners in China as well as Spire’s China office to parts design, supply, manufacturing and quality control;
  • Build, maintain, and improve production lines for manufacturing residential water meters, C&I water meters, BTU meters, clamp-on flowmeters, magnetic flowmeters and gas flowmeters; and
  • Monitor all aspects of production, ensuring that all stages of production conform to engineering design and performance specifications among the following processes: incoming parts quality control, parts assembling, temperature cycling, pressure testing, vibration testing, EMC testing, metrology calibration, labeling, and packing.
Requirements and Qualifications:

Education Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field and at least one (1) year of work experience in ultrasonic flow and energy measuring instrument industry.

In addition, the successful candidate must have:

  • Demonstrated ability designing ultrasonic water meter sensors using 3D CAD gained through one (1) year of work experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of diagnostic skills including troubleshooting and root cause analysis for ultrasonic flow and energy measuring devices and IOT/AMR systems gained through one (1) year of work experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fluid dynamics and energy transportation gained through one (1) year of work experience;
  • Demonstrated ability providing solutions for tender bidding process including standard compliance and technical specification evaluations gained through one (1) year of work experience;
  • Demonstrated ability writing patent applications gained through (1) year of work experience;
  • Demonstrated ability setting up and managing flow testing lab gained through one (1) year of work experience; and
  • Demonstrated ability applying for and managing approvals for water/heat meter gained through one (1) year of work experience.

All years of work experience may be gained concurrently.

Travel Requirement : 10% domestic and international travel required.
